Elanic welcomes Mr Shahidul Haq to our surgical team. Mr Huq is a highly qualified and experienced Consultant Plastic Surgeon who graduated with an honours degree in Medicine in 1999 from the University of Manchester and a distinction in undergraduate preclinical studies. Mr Huq has also gained a 1st class honours degree in neuroscience.
Mr Huq completed his basic surgical training in Leicester before undertaking a PhD in wound healing at the Plastic Surgery & Burns research unit, University of Bradford. He then went on to complete his surgical training at the Welsh Centre for Plastic Surgery and gained the FRCS (Plast) in 2011. Mr Huq is the clinical lead for plastic hand and limb reconstruction surgery at the Royal Stoke University Hospital. He has a bust skin cancer clinic and regularly performs reconstructive cosmetic surgery in his NHS practice.
Mr Huq has an extensive research background and is one of the few plastic surgeons to obtain a PhD. He has an interest in wound management, healing and scarring and his PhD research investigated techniques in reducing scar tissue formation. Mr Huq has articles published in the Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery and the Journal of Hand Surgery. Elanic is very pleased to welcome such an expert in scar tissue and wound management as Mr Huq as this is a key part of our patient's outcome and recovery.
